Wholesome Dairy Farms: Local, grass-fed, raw milk
Wholesome Dairy Farm in Yellow House, Pennsylvania produces raw milk from pasture grazed Ayrshire cows. We at Wholesome Dairy are serving the local population by providing delicious, healthy raw milk, and soon, raw milk cheeses.

Wholesome Dairy Farms: Dairying with reduced carbon emissions
We are informed that our nation’s food production system is responsible for 30% of its total carbon emissions†. We aim to present a model for locally produced food production that improves on this. We currently use heat exchangers, oil-reclaiming, methane-reduced dairy cow feeding strategies as well as the more traditional method of “Reuse, Renew, and Recycle”. We look forward to growing into Solar energy!

Wholesome Dairy Farms: Healthy cows, comfortable cows
Our cows are our bosses at Wholesome Dairy Farm. The farm is owned and run by veterinarians experienced in dairy production medicine. We keep the health and welfare of the animals as our top priority.

Wholesome Dairy Farms:
Some reasons why locally raised food makes sense to us

Several generations ago, America was more rural. More families raised their own livestock and produce. Today, as our culture has become increasingly urban and suburban, many have become alienated from our food production system. As a result, we believe that there has been a loss of understanding and accountability between the consumer public and the food production system. Further, the local dollar spent on food has no longer remained as local.

Many farm communities have been converted into bedroom communities. This not only represents a loss of image value to the newly developed suburbs, but the inhabitants often suffer from a loss of connectedness to the very land that sustains them. Local food producing farms meaningfully increase their communities’ image value as they provide opportunities for citizens to personally know who produces their food and where it comes from.

Communities benefit from diverse economies. Supporting local food production allows local purchasing power to work locally.
